Hello, ...

This is my first post here, i found this community very wonderful for BMW owners .

I don't have front fog light in my BMW, and i want to install it from a-z, actually i have a light switch similar to one in the following pic ..

I know that nothing will happens when i switch the fog light one (because i don't have one :facepalm. but i don't know why ether the front fog light indicator does not light green in the speedometer screen(left down corner).

does any body can help me in installing the fog lights from a-z and connect it to the original light switch. i'll appreciate that .

Install the lights and run wiring to the switch. Pretty basic I would think.

For the OP, I doubt the LCM will turn on the dash indicator until you have the wiring & relay in place at the fuse/relay panels. Just putting on the new light switch faceplate probably won't do the trick.

I installed front fogs on my wagon - I was lazy and just bought the factory kit. Wrasslin' with the wiring behind the glovebox wasn't fun, but overall it wasn't too bad of a job.

I followed the DIY, but I think something wrong. i think the fog light switch itself not work, how can i test the switch ?

Anyone have a correct pic of how the oem harness is supposed to be connected to the relay, the orange four prong relay is no longer being sold, the light green one is the relay that they sell, now I already know that there is a wire connected to the socket where the relay goes in. So that wire plugs in to the pin on the bottom. If you plug in the relay it goes in connected to that wire that is already there, horizontally. How do the remaining wires get plugged into the relay? (ie yellow/brown, red/yellow, and brown). The relay pins are confusing any help would be greatly appreciated. On a side note I'm using the OEM wiring harness, not the "under 30 dollars method".

If it helps this is exactly the way I have the relay and the wiring connected with the exception of the orange colored relay, mine is light green with an extra prong that's not used.

Looks like you already have the pdf I've attached. I used that pdf when installing mine on my touring. The pdf isn't mine and I'd love to list credit to whomever; but I don't recall where I actually found it.

There's a picture that looks exactly like yours and has a reference table discussing the wires.

It's been a while since I've done mine, so I don't recall the details.

Thanks for the file my brother the adenndum is exactly what I needed. Also it looks like I'm gonna need the jumper wire and that black connector socket along with the comb connector. Thanks again for the file and lots of credit to those who contributed to that file.

UPDATE

Ok I got the wiring right now, front fogs lit up like a christmas tree. The problem was the relays 4 and 6 pin connection I had ground (Black and Brown) wire on pin 6 and power (red and Yellow) on pin 4. The relay socket holder tells you what pins are what. Looking at the pic in the instructions with the relay wired up kind of confused me because when the relay is plugged in the pins go in clockwise order (2,4,6,8). So if this makes any sense, looking at the relay from the front while its pluggled in its socket the yellow and brown are on top(2) the brown and black on the left (4) the red and yellow on the right (6) and the yellow and brown which is pre-wired to the socket is (8) and voila. Also I did use a jumper wire that I fabricated from some brown wire I had lying around, although I don't know if it was needed, but its in there as per the oem instructions. Thanks again guys for the help it was much appreciated.

rbalazsi - that's a really good DIY. Wish I had that when I did mine a few years ago.
