The PS pump is only cross compatible with the matching cooling lines to the rack, just a heads up. I like this idea.

To add to your list, the E9x alternator pulley goes onto Bosch alternators. Supposed to decrease chain lash to help with the oil pump issues

 

Under Suspension, I would add the M3 convertible front sway bar. It makes a huge difference in handling: from 23.5mm to 27mm. Credit goes to Rob43 for that idea.

 

haha although a great resource for suspension, Rob43 did not come up with this. And the person (SloTown) who did this first after we found out the different sizes posted angles of bar ends weren't so good on non-M and he removed it.

This is obvious, but could also mention upgrading the engine from a B25 to a B30.

 

Ha :thumbup: Obvious as well would be an auto to 5 speed or even 6 speed swap.

Seriously though, under Suspension how about the upper outer rear control arm ball joint as compatible for use as replacement for the lower outer rear control bushing. I've seen this referenced multiple times on here and want to say its also done on the M cars if I remember correctly (?).

 

anyone know if the disa valve from a 330 would crossfit a 325xi. For some reason it only cross references to 325ci and 325i.

I have found the correct part number. The question was would a 330 disa fit a 325xi engine. All the parts lists show a 330 disa fitting a 325i and ci but not the 325xi. I was curious what the difference would be as I am in the market for a used disa.

Duplicate how-tos or duplicate threads is a nice problem to have. Some original threads have lost all their photos when the duplicates remain. If you find more than one thread about something when searching then that’s twice the useful info providing they have some decent replies.

Which E46's had the LF20 power steering pump? I dove into realoem to see if I had an old one and could possibly benefit from an upgrade to the revised model but it indicated that my car came with the LF30. I didn't expect that considering I have an early model year car.

I'm not seeing how something on the serpentine belt is going to affect the drive chain free play...

Why would you want an E39 M5 shift knob when you have the E46 M3 shift knob that's basically the same thing, except actually fits the car without modification?

I could understand the F10 M5 knob (which is basically a lit ZHP knob).

 

Just a question, I'm probably gonna get a shoe thrown at me, but....I have an 03 E46 330ci, and wanted to know if it was possible to swap an M3 coolant system onto it. I've gotta replace the Valve Cover Gasket tomorrow and the headlight bulbs and just wondered what all I could make due with and what I couldn't swap out. I get that the S54 and M54 engines are different from each other, I just want to be able to modify the car and put good performance parts on it.

It's a commendable thought. Albeit the differences in how the hoses attach, the expansion tank mounted away from the radiator and the very different water pump and how the block fills make this all but impossible to do.
