Hello again everyone! My name is Antti and i am writing from the country where weather is crap all around year (Finland)

For that reason, many of us have different cars for wintertime to take all the salt, snow etc. Some of you may remember me i had E46 325i M-Sport 2 with same colour.
https://aor.kuvat.fi/kuvat/BMW+E46+325i+M-Sport+II/20160423_160028.jpg/medium

I sold it because volkswagen which i didnt like and i sold it too. Now i have opportunity to drive with this old N46 based E46. I am not fan of this engine, but at least one winter it should be ok.
2 things which i dont like, steering wheel and seats. I am trying to find cheap as possible M-Steering wheel and front sport seats with heating in good condition.

Now for this car, it has quite nice history:

  • 1 original owner 2005-2017.
  • 253000km
  • Good service history, 90% stamps from local BMW.
  • Some extra mainentance done (Vanos wheels, valvecover gasket, timing chain tensioner, valvetronic motor, oil filter housing gasket, crank timing sensor, fuel pump, expansion tank, waterpump/thermosthat, rear springs, front TCA´s, front & rear discs+pads.
  • New hood and 2 doors because seam rusts in anti-corrosion warranty
  • New headlight lenses, front bumper repainted.
  • Never crashed or damaged.
  • Completely original car
  • No smoking, animals or anything which ruins interior.

This summer plans to do:

  • Inspection 2 service
  • Front TCA rear bush replacement
  • Full machine polishing
  • Interior wash with kärcher machine
  • Sport seats, M-Sport steering wheel
  • New powersteering fluids
  • Brake fluid replacement

Old filter was 12 years old original filter. It was full of black liquid.

Kinda cool looking at that smaller engine. Looks very clean.
Btw.... nice shop.
It is not so exiting to drive.. 118horsepower / 175newtonmetres of torque.
It is N46B18A engine. Dual vanos / Valvetronic.
Fuel economy is good, only 5-6 litres/100km in highway. For example 330ci takes 8litres / 100km.

Finland equipment level offer every time something new :D

I found out that rear shocks are leaking, and i am quite sure that front is not much better. I start first with rear shocks.
I put order for Bilstein B4 shocks + top mounts. I hope those will arrive next week.

Great progress, well done.
Sad little engine though, I share no love for the N46. Stupid Peugoet engine!
Has the vacuum pump on the back of the cylinder head started leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold yet?
I dont know if this engine has anything to with peugeot? That mini turbo engine was psa/bmw engine. I think N42 and N46 are BMW engines.
Vacuum pump gaskets are already replaced :)
I am genuine 6-cylinder BMW guy, but if this takes me over winter for free.. i drive it.

The E46 sedan was produced here at the Rosslyn plant in SA. I was told by one of the staff that it was build by Peugoet and shipped to SA for installation into E46 318i. I cannot find any documentation on it but I trust my source.
Maybe e46 cars were produced in US, it was new to me. My car is made in Germany. Munich
VIN code proves it: WBAEY310X0KS43475. K means Munich.

I remember your 325i thread quite well. Interesting to see you got a base E46 with few options and MTech 1 bumpers. Curious to see where this goes. You sure know how to bring out the sheen in the paint
It was mistake to sell that 325i, it was such great car (and in great condition), should i buy it back? :p

This car has been in my family from new, my father bought it 2005 when it was brand new from our local BMW dealer.
Car was one of last E46 which they sold in our BMW dealer, it was offered for lower price because E90 was already in preorder. This car was lying in harbour with this kind of factory options. My father added only multifunction steering wheel, engine/interior heaters and winter tyres.

My father bought new volkswagen golf sportsvan with DSG.. and he sort of like this E46, and do not really want to sell it.
So i said, i can give it little TLC before winter and if i dont find anything 6-cylinder E46 for my second car i try to drive over winter.
Next to do list is front shocks + top mounts. I am waiting parts from Germany. Bilstein B4 shocks naturally, same as rear..

Nice job on the wash. Is it topaz blue?

I struggle to get my topaz really shiny. Still on the hunt for the perfect product.
No it is Mystic blue. Topazblue it is one of my favourite BMW colours.
Should be really fine with machine polishing?
