Looking at buying an '01 M w/ 26,000 miles. I have heard horror stories about warranty issues that include NEW ENGINES! This car is a CPO until 7/07 so I am not overly concerned. Can anyone shed some light on this before I buy.

Iwouldnt worry since u will have warranty till 2007.
the only problem i have heard is the blown engines for the m3.
i dont know how long the drivetrain warranty is good till but i believe it was 6 yrs?? if that is the case then you dont really have anything to worry about and if it blows, u will get a brand new engine! Just make sure you ALWAYS have the dealer change the oil or the warranty is void. good luck with the m3....i envy you!

Early 2001 M3s are actually some of the more reliable M3s produced in terms of engine reliability. The batch you need to worry about is the early '02s produced between 10/01 - 12/01. They are most likely group to have an engine failure.

Fvck, if I could find a CPO E46 M3 for 39.5 I'd buy it at lunch, too!

Unless it was Laguna Seca Blue or Pheonix Yellow... not my cup of tea.

edit: however, black would be my first choice, and so much the better if it did not have SMG or nav!

Enjoy!
