if i bought an aftermakrket head unit, would the buttons still be functional on my steering wheel, and if so can i? and how much would it be. Thanks

Of course not, that's one of the disavantages of going aftermarket. I like the hk system i think its pretty good for a factory system.

You need an adapter from Pacific Accessory Company. It's called a PAC SWI-X controller.

Basically it connects to the controls on the steering wheel and the SWI-X controller will learn the signals from the remote of the aftermarket unit.

Then, when you press the buttons on the steering wheel, the PAC unit will send the signal (as the remote would) to the aftermarket head unit.

Hope this helps! I havn't done it yet...but plan on shortly!
