DISA O-RING found. Worth change anyway?

I have my DISA out of the engine for other preventivate maintenances, and reading around the forum there I was wondering about DISA gasket.
Here's the starting points:
  • I never had any error codes till now.
  • I never made a smoke test: but having no codes I didn't ever suspected any vacuum leaks, or at least not evident.
  • I have a slight "hiss" under the DISA, very very light on low rpm as a slight throttle hesitation I explained here but I don't honestly know if is DISA related
  • I'm already being of the idea that making "blind changes" of parts is not an intelligent way of solving problems. But a preventivate maintenance is.

The Oring on my 2.2 M54 so should be (already) fine, but shows signs of its age. I don't know if the o-ring should have this "pyramidal" shape, or if is due to worn.

I was able to find a rubber o-ring that fits the dimensions I should find, as read there

Thickness - 2.5 mm (do not suggest anything thicker)
I.D. - 51mm - 55 mm
O.D. - 55mm - 60 mm
Preferred material - silicon, however, rubber may substitute

'cause as @Bali suggested me, having the same DISA PN of 2.5 engine, this may be the right dimensions.

Here's the rubber O-ring I found:

pics are a little deformed, is exactly 55mm internal/60mm external.

Is not one of the supercool silicone-viton-fluorosilicone one, seems "regular" rubber.

Changing it may be an enormous mistake or a "simple" o-ring, even if rubber, should be better than a 20+ molded gasket?
The o-ring was in a hardware store near my home and costs really few bucks, so if it works, it won't be a problem to change with a new one every time I have to remove DISA. What concerns me is: will it last and stay strong if the disa will stay there 10 years?

Any opinion and/or experience appreciated.

Its clearly flattened on one edge. If you’re certain the oring is the right size change it. The rubber is over 20 years old (if original disa) and needs to be changed.

You’ll know if it seals because it’ll give a good amount of resistance going in. You’ll need a touch of silicone grease and some good twisting and pushing if the oring is healthy.

I bought a brand new DISA a few years ago. It came with the usual orange oring. It fit snug and held vacuum as expected.

That lasted about 2 years until it was no longer tight.

Replaced oring with a blue fluorosilicone one and it’s back to snug.

I didn't go that way because the "flap" is in very good shape and makes no noises and I have no errors. The gasket is only a preventivate maintenance.
Anyway I replaced it: it was less than a 10 minute work to remove it.
This winter I planned to remove the hard plastic hoses under the intake :)rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: ) and I'll check if the gasket is worn or somewhat.
I made a test drive past days and the scan didn't show any code, for now.

So, I changed the gasket with the black one in the pic.
It works, and it solved another little "hesitation", a breath at first gas pedal pression. So my little vacuum leak was from this gasket, or mainly part of it. Let's see how much it'll last, but it worth a try!
