Has anyone resealed their diff cover without removing the entire diff?

You need to pull the diff, no way around it. It's not that hard.

I just took a hard look......the bolt under the rear diff carrier mount on the left side is the one that makes it impossible........removal of the entire diff it is:thumbdwn:

remove the diff... its not too hard

Damn! I've got to do mine too...got the prescribed loctite from bmw...but the guys at the dealer use Permatex Ultra Gray...as I'm sure you know they don't make the gasket anymore.

I was also planning on doing all the seals. And, if you haven't replaced any of the bushings, now would be the easiest it gets for you...the problematic one seems to be the rear diff bushing...thought to be the cause of clunking when engaging 1st and R.

Guys you should use Permatex Gear Oil Sealant. This is designed for being in contact with gear oil. The Ultra grey is for engine oil exposure!!
