I'm not sure if this is correct forum to discuss this ...

It's interesting why partially combusted gas/oil/air mixture is vented thru the PCV and fed back into the intake valves, why not fed into the exhaust? Is this done all in the name of saving gas and improving emission ctrl?

This is the same design issue as the M16 assault rifle direct impingement where they fondly call it: eating where you poop.

Disadvantages:
You need more invasive maintenance (like wallet blasting of the valves)
Increase intake valves choking and decrease efficient gas flow
Definitely decrease longevity of the engine

You just answered your own question...its solely for emissions/mpg. Cars used to be catless, everything exposed to atmosphere, dumping excess coolant on the ground
