Just got this from work... it's a database of vehicles that have been total lossed by an insurance company. Any participating insurance company that declares a vehicle a total loss (salvage) uploads that information to the database. Plus, it's free through the National Insurance Crime Bureau

all it does is report total loss vehicles from participating insurance companies, not how many owners it's had or heavy non-totalling damage, but it is a good resource and a good place to start

Pretty cool, but I ran a bunch of ones off ebay and none showed up? Maybe not many companies participate.
