Valve Cover Gasket. was quite a pain fishing all of the pieces out of the valve cover.
Oil Change.

I have a steering coupler/guibo on standby, for when I can afford an alignment (if needed) to go with it.

Feels great doesnt it. Enjoy a beer after?
You know it! I used your definitive pulley guide to source the pulleys I needed. Great job finding the autozone source for the "unreplaceable" mech tensioner pulleys

About to replace rear rotors today then give the car a well deserved wash (after collecting dirt for 3 weeks to let the new hood paint cure).
Think I'm going to start a build thread, this car has been through hell and back.

replaced the rear rotors. buttoned everything up, went for a drive and CHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

looked at the pads and sure enough I put one of them in backwards

drivers side rotor has a beautiful wear pattern on it. passenger side... not so much...looks like it got clawed by a tiger. that's what I get for working as fast as I could before my girlfriend came over.

haha right? there's a lesson in there somewhere...like don't speed things up for a girl because you'll probably just f something up... then she'll be sitting on your tire in the dark holding your cell phone as a flashlight talking about how she's hungry

Dont beat yourself up. If you saw the stupid, absurd, mistakes that professional mechanics make all the time, you would feel a lot better about yours. (I am not talking about bad mechanics, but good ones making honest, yet incredibly stupid mistakes). It happens, laugh it off, take the brotherly harassment from the forum and have fun with it.
Hey man I really appreciate that! I'll roll with the punches, the brotherly aspect is part of why I'm still here :D
Gf eventually got her food, and my brakes are finally quiet. still laughing (sometimes cringing) about it lol

Yea that made my day a lot better.
This too made my night/day better, funny enough I had a few drinks when I read it so it was that much better

Cain, nice to see you're taking it well - you've got the right attitude. We all make stupid $h!t mistakes like this! I know I just get really salty about it and wind up cursing myself and more often than not my car when I mess up something or something goes wrong :censor: Regardless, that's always gonna be a great story for you to tell.
Haha I'm glad some people got a laugh out of it :D

I really appreciate the kind words. I've owned this car for exactly a year now and am loving every second of it, even the mistakes along the way. You e46ers are awesome and have helped me develop a lifelong passion.

I noticed you're in Lake Forest. I have yet to talk to a fanatic in person. Any kind of e46/bmw meets in our area? (South Orange County)
Cheers:thumbsup:

attempted steering guibo/coupler. stopped because I didn't have the time to potentially need an alignment after. I've watched so many videos and searched so many threads; what is the best way to do it without needing an alignment?!
