New Bilstein B8s front and rear. The fact that I had to remove all of the interior from the rear seat back (touring ) led to me starting my tannin red interior swap that I've been accumulating parts for rather than putting the beige parts back in. Hopefully will find time to pull the dash and carpet out soon.

how do you find b8's ? had them and the harsh ride was insufferable:(
I've only had the fronts on since last night and only put a couple of miles on as a quick test drive to make sure nothing clanked, but I've had the rears on since last week and like them, especially compared to the worn out originals.
i put b8 shocks on the rear with regular springs on the 05 and love them. the cornering is especially good. but complaints about the rougher ride from passengers including some older folks and a german shepherd who prefer the original shocks on the 04. personally i think the original are too floaty. maybe b6 would be a good compromise.
The valving on the B6 and the B8 is the same, the B8 is just shorter for use with lowering or sport springs like mine. I could have gone either way really.

Put it back together.

Will swap the front door panels in a day or two.

I think my plan is to keep the front seats beige for a minute as my red ones aren't heated and have a couple of seams popping. Will get new red covers for my beige seats and do that in the spring while the red ones are in when I won't need the heaters.

Tying in with one of the active threads on the main forum - everyone should get their electric fan now at pick and pull - there were 4 there when I went two weeks ago
Mine (two of them local and a third about an hour away that I keep tabs on) get lots of E46s but all automatics.

Wanted a little piece of mind so I decided to spend a few extra bucks and replace the water pump, thermostat & expansion tank along with the new rad & fan. Thermostat had been replaced by a PO a few years ago, but the ET & WP were still the original parts... :yikes: So yeah, I'm glad I did that. Now the fan clutch is making some weird noise (sounds like a bad bearing) so that's my excuse for doing the EFan conversion I guess lol.

Also noticed the oil filter housing gasket is leaking so I'll be replacing that next oil change.
You don't need to wait until then. The oil level is below there when the engine isn't running so the job can be done in between oil changes.

Looks great! What are you going to use for the lower valance? CF or standard?
The standard one. It's easy to to overdo CF. I've got a carbon plate frame and that's enough for me, also I've got the Westfalia hitch that uses a specific diffuser and I've not seen that one in carbon.

Pictured in the back, Dayton Audio PS65LP-4 6-1/2" Ultra Efficient Low Profile Full-Range Driver 4 Ohm
Not pictured but in the front, Infinity REF-6522EX Shallow-Mount 6-1/2 Inch Coaxial Car Speakers, because the ones above were too thicc for the front
I'm pretty pleased with them, though I've only taken 2 short trips so far.
No pictures at all.
