When I first bought the car , it was sitting for about a year, and the lady I got the car from hadn’t cone by every week or so to start it up and drive it around the block at least. Anyway, make a long story short, everything dry rotted fron sitting so long. And all fluids were nasty. As well as a dead battery.(we managed to get it up and running and I drove it home, maybe 5 blocks)So far I have done the front control arms, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar link. Front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors and pads. Most of the cooling system(I kno I kno, very important on these cars) just gotta do the hard lines under the intake.I did the valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, new belts(going to do pulleys soon) I’m probably forgetting some things but it’s alright.. also I have quite the list of things I’m going to do to my baby, so keep tuned to see updates. I enclosed some pics of the work so far. Thanks everyone!

I actually hissed at my screen after seeing those first set of pics. Gonna grab my old girl nice and tight. Great job restoring it. May I suggest a new wiper fluid tank with some blue fluid - really improves the bays aesthetic.
hey what’s goin on? Just wondering, was that comment to my picture posts? Lol I feel they were and if so, I already ordered the wiper fluid reservoir, trust me, I have ocd and m a perfectionist, and shit like that bothers me

Vibrations that stuck around after replacing the CSB/Guibo/Trans mounts a month or so ago. Took it out and found a loose bolt on the guibo, then re-aligned my driveshaft as it didn't look like my marks lined up exactly (moved it over 1 spline). In combo with the alignment my car now drives way better, but there's still some vibrations between 100-115 km/h and a slight rumble noise coming from the driveshaft at those speeds under load that I could be coming from the CSB area. I'm going to have my tech friend drive the car in a few days to see what he says.
Did you pre load the CSB when installing? Also did you make sure everything was torqued to spec? How are your tires? Any suspension issues/work done? Just trying to look at all possibilities to be of help

Might as weel add my car to the list.
Bought a one owner since new, 150k miles, automatic 330xi sedan for 3k USD back in february.
Got it cheap, atleast for the Norwegian marked, because a suspicious smell in the cabin that turned out to be the valve cover gasket...

Since then I have been trying to freshen up the car and make it drive as nice as possible with the last major job being a complete manual swap with coding and everything.
Here is an incomplete list of parts:

Complete cooling system including water pump and expansion tank.
Valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets
VANOS overhaul using dr.vanos seals
Spark plugs, and all filters.
Steering guibo
Some broken parts like the window regulator, fan speed regulator.
Rear shocks and front stabilizer bushings.
Fuel pump, fuel filters and fuel breather line with solenoid.
Complete overhaul of intake boots.
Replaced seatbelt clip and accompanying Airbag tensioner.
Both front axles using GKN axles. Expensive but wont have to do it again in the near future.
Found a cheap Msport alcantara steering wheel with a flat bottom.
Found a brand new bosch steering rack of a wrecked car for 150 bucks.
Bought two sets of Style 68 rims so I can have one for summer and one for winter.
Thinking of making them into 2xsquare setups. One square 7.5j winter set, and one 8.5j summer set with 235 all around.
While doing the manual swap i also replaced the rear main seal, the gearbox mount and got the detent bushings replaced.
The manual swap was a 4 month endeavor of research into parts and techniques, but in the end the actual labor took 5 days. The rest of the electrical work and programming took another 2 days once i got the parts.
ALOT of great information from this sub, I could never have done it without you guys.

I stopped keeping track of the total cost once i passed 10k USD for the whole car, approx what it is worth in its current condition here in Norway. It has been a blast the whole way and a good hobby for the weekends. I dont regret a single dollar I spent. I anticipate i used about 2k USD on the manual swap all parts included.
Here is the car as it stands today with 168k miles on the clock and not a single error light on the dash.

Next up is swapping the used DMF and clutch for a SMF kit from Valeo.
Good job man keep up the great work!

Installed a set of 5K Morimoto bulbs & aimed both my headlights and fog lights, did an oil change, finally finished the wiring for my rear sunshade so the button works and installed my Dynavin hvac relocate bracket. One the last note, has anyone had the issue where the OEM cigarette lighter doesn't clip in to the Dynavin bracket? Does getting a generic aftermarket one fit better?
I was wondering same thing about the plug.it doesn’t clip in snug like it should

Looking good! Did you replace the hard coolant pipes that run along the block? Or at least their O-rings?
Yes sir I did.. actually both those pipes are brand new and only replaced about a month or two ago. But my mentality is if I’m going to change o rings on rest of cooking system why not there too.. have all the o rings have the same amount of time and wear on them 💪 just my ocd way of thinking lol

Here are the old door cards. Fully complete with an extra set of front door cards. The all tan ones are completely intact. And the 4 with the black inserts are disassembled. They are just laying as one piece for the picture. They would have to be screwed in on the back. Also not sure if the pic shows good but the front two armrests aren’t in the best shape but everything else is good. If anybody is interested, shoot me a message. Thanks
