Heeelllloo Forum!

While changing the cylinder head gasket on my 2001 Cic, I "accidentally" over torque the center threaded stud and broke it. :censor:

Getting ready to order it but I have 2 questions for the class:

1. Anyone in Los Angeles know a *cheap* BMW parts store that won't gouge the crap out of me like the Stealership? BMW Glendale want $35 for the stud and cap nut & ECS won't deliver for 3-7 days.

2. What is the torque for the threaded stud? Same as the cap nut? (ie 10nm)

Appreciate the views. Thanks in advance for the help.

Cylinder Head Gasket or valve cover gasket?

CA stealers are the worst I've dealt with in the country. What about ordering online and it's prob be there quicker than promised if you live close?

Or just bite the bullet because you're happy to be able to save the day.

Yeah, get it fast, or get it cheap!

And BTW, my strong opinion is to not use a torque wrench on these bolts. Use a 1/4" drive and tighten until they seem reasonably tight. Of course you seem to have set a bad example of reasonable torque!
