Here is a different approach to an ipod dock.
I started by using the correct ipod dock tray insert from a home ipod radio.
I took a dremel tool and modified the hole in the center until the ipod cable from the radio (This case OEM integration) fit snuggly and flush. Using superglue, fill in the imperfections. I used a broken hazard/central locking switch and took it apart. By hollowing out the inside, the ipod tray fit perfectly in the switch. The hazard/central locking switch was relocated to the coinholder location, only by extending the wires. The switch fits pretty good after the coinholder assembly is removed. There was a small gap, so as you can see on the picture i filled that in using the edge of the coinholder.

Ha my mistake. It's not under the armrest. However, I have had this setup for several years and have not had any issues with snapping or breaking.
