Today, you can configure a 2005 325 Ci convertible on the BMW website and order 17 inch wheels as an accessory (like the type 79s) whether or not you have a sports package.

Could you do this back in 2004?

I need to know if the 17s were a stock option for some autocross classification purposes.

Absolutely. The Sport package included 17's, and you could get different styles of 17's (44's, 50's, 71's, etc.) as well -- been true since at least 2003.

I agrees, but could you get car from the factory with 17s even if you didn't have a sports package?

Today, you can do it as an accessory on BMWUSA.com, not sure if they come from the factory like that or those are dealer addons. If they are dealer addons, I'd be accessed a plus sizing penalty for autocross.

i checked this out. the 17s without a sports package are dealer add-ons not factory options so I can't consider them stock.
