So, based on some recommendations from you magnificent people, I've determined that I need to replace my FSR. Previously, the main symptom was an inability to modulate how hard the A/C was blowing. However, that has now changed (note: I haven't replaced the FSR yet). Now, the fan simply won't blow at all.

Does this new symptom still indicate a faulty FSR, or would it suggest a different problem?

Check your fuse. If good, then..
FSR burnt = fan NO blow

Would a completely failed FSR cause the fan to not blow, while an FSR that is on it's way out but not completely fried cause erratic blowing?

FSR has many failure modes. It can, and often does,prevent the fan from working at all. Mine failed in this manner.

Unplug the FSR and plug it back in- I got an E39's blower to work that way the other day. Part is on order, but was def worth a try.
