If you are considering an RO buffer/polisher, but you are on the fence about which one to buy, I want to share my experience.
I have a Griots Garage 6 in RO buffer, that has seen 4 years of use. The last time I used it, I noticed a small amount of oil on the gearbox (the part the above the pad holder that translates the spinning motor shaft into a random orbital pattern). It was not much, but I thought I would send an email to customer service and see if I should perform some sort of maintenance to replace the lost oil, and to seal the leak. I received an email from them the next day, and they requested my customer number and purchase date. They also said that as soon as they located my original purchase documents, they would send me a UPS return label, and ship me a new unit as soon as they received my old one! There were no questions about misuse or abuse. They never asked if I had dropped the unit, in fact, there were no questions at all. I was really surprised. I assumed that they would send a factory refurb unit, so I asked about that. But no, it is a brand new, 2011 model, NIB. You can make various arguments about the quality of their polishes, etc, but you can not argue with that kind of customer service. To be honest, I do not see any major differences in the performance of other companies products in the $200 price range, so this kind of service should be enough to tip the scales in favor of a Griots RO buffer. I really doubt that any of the other companies have this sort of return policy for their products once the warranty expires.

A little more about Griots products......

BTW - I am not affiliated with Griots in any way. I also wanted to give a big thumbs up for their clay bar pad holder for the 6in buffer. You will not believe how fast and easy it is to clay the whole car. I felt like an idiot for doing it by hand for all those years. I also just bought one of their 3in RO buffers, and I was surprised how solid and powerful it was. It looks like a toy in the catalog/website, but it is actually surprisingly heavy and solid. It is not so heavy that it is hard to work with, but you can tell that it has a serious, heavy duty motor in it. And it is so much better than trying to attach a 3in pad to a full size buffer. It gets in to so many tight spots that there are almost no more areas that need to be hand polished. It is a big time/work saver. I sent a product suggestion to them for a 3in clay bar pad, to reduce the amount of claying that needs to be done by hand, and they replied that they would pass the suggestion on to the Product Development team. Now, that may be complete B/S, but at least they replied with something more than an auto email. I was skeptical about their products at first, but I decided to order the 6in RO out of curiosity, and I figured that I would just return it if it seemed like a POS. But, I was so happy with it I decided to keep it. And, before you post negative comments, I am fully aware that some of their items are overpriced, overkill, or just plain silly. Their polishes are pretty good, but I did end up using Menzerna SIP polish to work out some of the deeper imperfections, since their Machine polish 1 was just not strong enough for that hard BMW clearcoat.

I went back and looked at what I wrote again, and I will say that I did do a forum search for any mentions about using the pad for claying the car, and I only saw one. And if you have not used one, it really makes a big difference. It is wicked fast. I also wrote about the 3in buffer because Griots offers package deals when you buy both at the same time. I did not get one originally, but ended up buying one, because there are a lot of areas that you can not reach with a 6in buffer. The front bumper and head lights in particular. And since the front bumper takes the worst abuse, a 3in buffer is a big help. Since the purpose of the forum is to discuss our experience, then I don't see the harm in writing as much as you want to. If it was too much to read, then don't read it. But I find that more info is better than not enough.
