hey every one i may be buying a used m3 today its an 01 with like 48k on it i know thats alot but its also a good price and all i can afford, anyways is there and this special i should know about, or to look for on these cars that might be wrong?

check to see what production date the car is. There is an issue with the rod bearings in the motor which can cause engine failure. not sure what exactly those dates are but I know it starts in '01 and runs through Feb '02. Not too sure about any extended warranty that covers the engine. Might also want to ask if the engine has already been replaced. sometimes if the engine blows it will bring the price of the car substantially down.

i can help you with the dates

the bad run of engines are from 10-01 to 2-02 but they did not fix
the trouble with the engines untill 11-10-02 but as you get away from the 2-02 date chances are that you will get a good engine.

just get it...you'll love it...

here's a post of a letter showing which engines are covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. you'll need adobe acrobat to open it. definitely 10/01-12/01 productions seemed to have some major issues...but that's what the warranty is for.

that is the car i am looking at, is it a good deal? i was thinking if i could get them down to 38k that would not be too bad, by the way it has 48k miles not 45.
