my friend just took his 99 323i with a extended warranty into union park bmw. They told him that he neede new brakes, rotors and lower control arms and none of this is covered by the warranty because they are wearable parts. Shouldn't all of these be covered under the warranty? When my car needed lower conrrol arms, brakes, and rotors it was covered. Are they screwing him or what?:dunno:

I just had mine replaced last week. The brakes and rotors were covered by the maintenance warranty and the lower control arms were covered by the vehicle warranty. Would have been around $1100 worth of repairs. No charge for any of it. Have him contact BMWNA.

Controls Arms

I changed brakes, rotors, fronts and backs plus lower control arms front and back with no warranty. I didn't have a warranty. I paid a fortune on these and the car still looks the same..:ben:
Talking about modding money
Control arms are pieces of [email protected], they probably already changed them under warranty for the defective ones, but if he has certain number of miles, it's wear and t.

How do you know when you need new lower control arms? What do you need to look for?

TIA
I would hear a rattling noise coming from the wheels when turning left or right and going over bumps or potholes at the same time. Didn't do it when going straight. Sounded as if the brake calipers where loose and rattling. I mentioned it to my service tech and he had them check it out and that's what they found.
