I am working on removing valve cover gasket. I removed outer gasket but spark plug gaskets are very brittle. Is it safe to use brake cleaner? Some of chemical will get mixed with oil so I want to make sure.

I am working on removing valve cover gasket. I removed outer gasket but spark plug gaskets are very brittle. Is it safe to use brake cleaner? Some of chemical will get mixed with oil so I want to make sure.

I use brake cleaner to clean off the remnants of the VCG off the head but I spray it onto the rag I'm using not directly onto the surface.

For the plastic valve cover I use less harsh carb cleaner, again onto the rag then wipe off the surface of the cover.
