Ah, NFS WinKFP, found it.

So what's the problem with SSS not starting up? The seller is very supportive, I'd give him a shout if its not working.

I'm guessing its down to my laptop being to slow, I had to use Wmware 6 instead of 7 because 7 didn't support my old processor. When trying to boot the Virtual machine for SSS it runs incredibly slow than freezes the whole laptop

:eek: When you mean slow.. what are the specs of computer you're trying to install on?

I'll be attempting to run everything off a netbook. Granted it has a dual-core Atom and 2GB of ram.

I like this Maybach music.. sweet.

If all goes well this weekend, I'll make a DIY flash tutorial. Fanatics love DME flash tutorials.
I tried to run WinKfp but when i go to select the part number on the DME its all blank, I wonder if i have to download It from another source

I bought this as well, but mine freezes when I try to reflash the dme or tcm?? Anyone have the same issue? I found some files on other sites, the "changes" and "full start" zips but don't know how to run them in the virtual machine. I tried but messed up my operating systems registry :-( took a while to set it straight.

Hello.

I was also just reading up on this on bimmerforums. There is a long thread about this but it dies at the end. They r figuring out how to manipulate the code to turn on/off features and distinguish the difference between US and EU flashes.

I am looking to order a cable so I can flash the EU2 or EU3. Sposed to get better performance slightly.

The thread doesn't die, I've been posting there recently. If you're not following the "Just updated my DME!!!" thread by newtoe46, you're missing out on a lot.
TerraPhantm and a few other members have contributed some very useful info.



My DIY on How to flash to EU2:


1) Purchase the cable/software combo posted at the top of this thread, from the Romanian seller.

2) Follow the included video tutorials and install all software packages. Ensure they work.

3) Visit http://bmwfans.info and click on your E46 model, choosing EUROPE as the country.

4) Click on "Engine electrical system" then "Control unit DME, programmed". Note the serial number of the appropriate tune you want.

5) Open up WinKFP and enter the last 7 digits of that serial number when "Enter ZUSB" prompt comes up.
- Ensure you disable UIF writing
- Ensure you select LOW BAUDRATE before flashing

6) The flash will begin, it will take around 20 mins for the first stage, and around 3 for the second stage.
- Ensure you have a battery charger hooked up to the car supplying a minimum of 10A power.

7) After confirmation message, remove the key from position 2 for a minute and close WinKFP. Start DIS and clear all your adaptation values.

8) Enjoy better idle, torque, and throttle response. Catless headers will no longer trigger a CEL, and the SAP can also be deleted.
- Ensure you only use 91+ octane gas from now on.

The European DMEs for my car are all MS43, but the US version shows MS45.1. I take it this is not possible if I don't have MS43? How would I verify what version I have?

Thank you guys, especially ac_2007 for the step-by-step instructions. I need to flash the DME on my 2004 330Ci to the latest (having O2 sensor issues). A detailed instruction set with screen shots or a flash / Youtube tutorial showing the process from start to finish will go a long way in helping me build up the courage to do this :)

What does the term "Catalyzer Preparation" mean?

Looking at the DME's available for my 00 323, there is the standard flash (Euro 3 equivalent) and the ones marked EU2 are for lower power output or low compression motors.

The one is marked "Catalyzer Preparation=Yes". Is that the cat-less EU2 tune?
