So this weekend my friend and I tackled installing the BMW Performance Shift Lever. After many forums searches, youtube videos, and google searched we thought we knew everything in order to successfully install the part. We thought wrong!

NONE has mentioned the part of the install that requires you to take the selector rod out of the old lever. So my buddy and I decided to make a youtube video

(this DIY is for any manual transmission bmw trying to change the shift lever)
PM if you are having troubles getting to the video, or need additonal help

FYI, I just did this install myself and found that there are two very thin washers left from when you remove the stock shift lever. Once these are removed, there is enough room for the rod to fully slide through the new shift lever and thus, the groove will show. Allowing you to correctly place the clip on without any need to trim the rubber.

I'll second that, had to leave out the yellow nylon washers when I installed an E60 545i shift lever.
