I have a squeak in my transmission(manual)
It only happens sometimes, then its there for weeks.
Its driving me mad.The car has 39,000 miles done.
BMW can't find the problem when its on a roaling road in the workshop.they changed the oil and sived the old oil to see if there were any iron filings in it ,none were found.
The noise happens if the car is coasting in neutral ,or under power.
It does not start till the car is doing 20 mph.
I can't put the roof down on account of the noise,or sell the car.
At one stage the service manager in a largee BMw:cry: dealer said it must be a design fault!
Anyone advise me?

Did they check the flex plate behind the flywheel? Its a thin plate that located behind the flywheel. Sometimes it will crack and cause a God foresaking noise. If you drive your bimmer hard this will cause it to crack
