So... recently I have been experiencing transmission sluggness, poor acceleration, very small intervals between RPMs of shifting points, this idle bouncing thing between 700 and 1000 rpms, and the most biggest problem


WHENEVER THE CAR SHIFTS INTO 5TH it correctly goes to 1500 rpm but then goes back down to 4th and brings the car back to 2000 after 1 second of shifting into 5th (as if ive pressed on teh pedal harder for it to downshfit but my foot is at the same presssure)

Whenever i try to floor it at around 70 mph it doesnt downshift just stays in fifth and accelerates

And when i am accelerating slow in a parking lot from a standstill, you can here this slight knock from underneath, does that mean the transmission guibo has worn out, how often do you auto guys change it?


Steering is pretty stiff, steering wheel turns half a centimeter before it actually moves the wheels? Steering guibo needs to be replaced or some other problem? Had fcabs done less than 5000 miles ago

help please. this has been driving me nuts, i was trembling all over while driving on i95 today

From your photos, it would appear that your car has 64K on the clock. My 325 failed at 58K. Mine did not exhibit any of the symptoms that yours is showing. I'd start by having the transmission fluid and filter changed. While you are under there, disconnect and reconnect both electrical connectors several times to clean the connections. Check the ground connections while you are at it. It almost sounds like an electrical problem. You won't hurt it by changing the filter though. You did not state the year or model of the car.

2002 325ci cuild date 03/2002, zf transmission 5 speed auto =) and yeah 65700 on the clock today most engine maintainance taken care of with teh exception of belts and pulleys and spark plugs

you mean there are electrical connections hidden by the transmission pan? so when i remove it, they are there?

in the video, it appears your Service Engine Soon light is illuminated.

Have you even pulled the codes?

I doubt your transmission is to blame for the problem you're having since you don't have the gear cog light. It's probably a Mass Air Flow problem.

Pull the codes and get back to us.

That video was my first video recorded spetember first with a broken thermostat....Pulled codes august 31 po118, overhauled entire cooling system last week no codescooling system was perfect perfect temp 95* all around, the last vids are after cooling system overhaul and they were recorded a couple nights ago, sorry I putthis information in the video description but not the thread

wow even though i had no CEL, by maf problem ian i thought u meant it was dirty so i cleaned it up and lower speed driving is great!!! who knew that a little crc to clean up a maf would make such a difference, shifting is smoother... now to test it on the highway tomorrow morning
