Due to the famous expansion tank crack I just had to replace it. In the process I found my tranny thermostat broken, bottom of the thermostat is still in the housing, and spring and metal valve part came out. I just put the new expansion tank and left the rest alone as is. Everything seems to be running ok. Am I wrong to assume that running it this way will just keep the flow of coolant at all times and shouldn't really hurt if I live in warm climate ? or missing the spring and metal valve will actually close the flow ?
Any help is appreciated. I would hate to pull everything out and redo it again.
