Been meaning to do this forever, and finally got around to it. Cooling system overhaul last weekend was much more enjoyable than this... This has been like surgery, getting room to work in that tiny space and finding a way to route the stupid wire.

But I did it, had the new one all routed and plugged in, and started to remove the old one. Then...

The hex bolt totally stripped out. WTH... That metal was like butter!

What do I do now? Any ideas?

Nothing to worry, it happens.

Get a thread repair kit, like Helicoil or Time-sert, the repair threads will actually be stronger than original. Look it up on youtube. "Helicoil thread repair"

Autozone/Oreillys/Pepboys all sell the Helicoil kits. Come in different sizes, just find out what type of metric bolt that is and buy the appropriate kit.

I recommend you do this, versus drilling a bigger hole and tapping it for a bigger bolt, thats also acceptable but the bolt can strip again if your threads arent perfect.

Haha, never mind folks... It just had so much caked on crud in it that that's
what was coming out. Got the hex key in there and got it off fine.

So nothing to see, just a rookie false alarm. :facepalm:

Geez, this a pretty tedious job, though.
