Anyone smoke their own clears?

1552 Views 19 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  wtf
Bought some smoke spray yesterday as I want to smoke out my front corners ,sides and rears. Never done this, want to know if anyone has and if so, what was the result?

I've not done it so I'm gonna try my sides first as they're the least noticeable if I **** it up.

Anyone? Advice, as always, appreciated.

Let us know how it turns out I want to have mine done also. Which type of spray did you get?
The can is in the trunk of my car. I'll take a pic and post it here in a few hours when I get home. I'll try my sides tonight and post pics. Wish me luck, hehe
Also,

how easy is it to remove the rear light clusters? It'd obviously be easier to spray off the car. Anyone got a link to a DIY?

easy dude, open the trunk take out the tool kit and there are 8 or 10 poppers to remove the trunk lid lining carpet then unscrew the light clusters.

Then take out the bulbs for the rear lights and they unscrew just as easy
good luck

sorry dude just 1 thing, be aware that the 2 phillips screws for the tool kit are covered with carpet the same colour as the boot lining and can be a ***** to find, pm me if u have any probs
Thanks for the heads up man! Appreciate it.

I'll do the sides tonight, if they come out ok, I'll do the fronts tomorrow and I'll save the rears for the weekend. I'll post pics with progress :D
nice, can't wait to see some pics  look on the bright side, if you mess it up, or for some reason don't like it, you could always clean it off with paint thinner :D

DIY rocks. Ghetto DIY rocks harder :buff: :harv:

Was too dark to take pics this evening, the flash of the camera makes it look no different than stock, but trust me, it looks sweet, especially coz my car is black too! Will post daytime shots tomorrow :D

Where did you get the can of tint spray from?

I am anxious to see the finished product. I have a black car too and I think it will look great on black.

Bought it from a local car modding (R1cer) shop. Seriously :)
First pic. You can see the front corner is absolutely stock and clear, the side is lightly smoked. I really like the look. I'll put another coat on this weekend to make it darker and will post new pics, but hopefully you get the idea.

Definitely well chuffed with this el cheapo mod!

Fas I did the same mod on my E36 and messed it up bigtime. Got the same can as well!!! Was it difficult getting a smooth finish. I got runs everywhere. :bawling: and in the end had to strip it all off.

Not difficult at all :) It's all in the wrist action :eeps:

I think Teddy is gonna speak to you about doing the install of your halos around my place or his place. Bring the can along, I'll sort you out :)
As far as I know, Mikey-Fresh just did his last weekend. Ask him, he's got pics.
