Does anyone knows whether any more sporty or performance differentials exist for our Xis? I know we can’t replace just the rear one but this is what I’m able to find only. What would the best gear ratio be for our Xis to become faster from 0 – 60 or even 0 – 100? Where can I find front diff that would match the rear one? Are there any even available somewhere?

dont do it

but if you decide to do the 3.46 lsd swap you will also have to change the front diff, you can't leave the stock 3.38 in there you know better than that. you will have to get a front diff out of an automatic 325xi which is 3.46 and buy the rear lsd diff online.
the gear ratio change (3.38 to 3.46) will be so small that you will barely feel any performance gains.(i promise you)
and they will cost you 1500-2000 dollars, oh thats if you DIY. if you decide ot take it to a shop, that price will come close to a supercharger kit which will make it much faster than the diffs

if you had a manual it would be a different story because they have 3.07 diffs. going from 3.07 to 3.46 will definately make you accelerate faster.

just trying to help save you money, headaches, and disappointment
not a wise choice, just dont do it

these are the ratios that came in the E46 Xi's:
3.91 3.46 3.23 3.07 2.93 2.35

Some of these are euro only models (the 3.91, 2.35, and 2.93 I think). 3.23 is a 325xi manual, 3.46 is the auto. I think the 3.07 is the 330xi manual (it was a while ago that I looked these up)

what car did the 3.38 come in? I never seen that for an E46 before.

here are the ratios

325xi/xit manual is 3.23
325xi/xit auto is 3.46

330xi manual is 3.07
330xi auto is 3.38 which op has

the 3.91 and 2.93 mentioned above are for RWD models
the 2.35 doesn't even exist
i double checked these numbers. they are right

I might not have looked up the 3.38 as I wasn't interested in it, thanks.

anyway, the others are definitely available for the xi. but they are euro only models. the 2.35 is a diesel diff ratio.

2.93: 31507523655
2.35: 31507500795

I also missed 3.15: 31507504534

I can't remember which euro model had the 3.91s - really doesn't matter anyway, finding a matched set would be difficult and expensive.

I also found a 2.47: 31507526209 (another diesel ratio)

Put a 3.46 LSD in the rear. That will work great.
What do you mean? Just replace the rear one with 3.46 LSD one? What about the front one? Please gave me more details! Would all DSC, ABS and so on work still?
Front and rear diffs need to match, obviously.

3.46 lsd rear is readily available. You'll need a 3.46 front diff too. Simple swap. Took me and a buddy about 5 hours to do front and rear.

I really thought my diffs were 2.93. If it is 3.38 it is actually not too bad! 3.46 will have very little gain indeed. But who knows ... very little is sometimes what you need. 5 hrs to swap both diffs is not too bad. I guess I should look now for diffs from 325Xi and if I get them cheap enough I may DIY this
