Well shit. That really sucks man, sorry.

Quarter panel damage on these cars usually means instant total from the insurance company, but who knows for sure.
That's what I'm afraid of.
Sorry to see/hear. Best of luck!

A shame! The paint looks beautiful on your car.

In 2011, my E46 had a deer strike. Overall damage was MUCH easier to repair than that, as damage was basically all bolt-on parts - hood, grille, one headlight, AC condensor, bumper cover refinish, paint from doors forward. At $7K repair cost, it came very near being totalled, even back then. Yours, I'm afraid, is almost certainly well over the line.
Almost certain it will be totalled. Looks like a quarter panel replacement (done right) would be a job. Not sure if I am up for that, but I love the car. We'll see what kind of an offer they come back with... Clean retail is around 5K, but I'm sure they'll try and lowball me.
oh sorry. that’s never a good spot although that’s not really a straight on impact but more a hard grazing rub.
so I’m sure an insurance quote will be high. a private body shop could prob do for cash a lot cheaper with used parts as side job/fill work. but even then it’ll cost and not sure if you’d like outcome.
Whilst I totally agree about insurance trying to total,

as long as there's not a lot of damage under the bumper, or
through the trunk lid to the other quarter, it's not a difficult fix.

Expensive, yes, but half a quarter (is that an 8th?)
and a bit of metalwork later, you'll be ready for paint.

Fortunately you have the Covid market on your side for the market survey/valuation. Just went through this with my Touring due to a side curtain airbag blowing when my wife hit a piece of debris on the highway. No body damage, just a bent coilover, buldge in the tire, and the airbag and associated components. The later is what totalled the car. I bought mine back and will be fixing it.

With a less involved fix it would still make a great "beater" or track toy.

That sucks. Sorry bro.

I damn near lost my car last week when some old coot took a left turn in front of me. Missed by inches.

Inflated prices right now may help you. Fight the good fight.

That sucks. Looks like it was a really nice sedan.

Was that down in Pueblo where the suburban was running from the cops?

I think 1600 for the quarter panel on the Sedans. Hopefully you can find one. Took five months for a quarter panel for my vert to be found. There was only 3 in the entire US.

That also might be able to get pulled out. Actually it can be. Just finding a place with that skill will be the challenge.

Or, bang it out enough to get the tail light on an run it.
Damn that sucks bro, some good ideas in this thread though! I had a bus pull out of a side junction last week without looking, thanked God I have good brakes on my E46 else I'd have been looking as a mangled mess of a car.
They just hauled it away for appraisal yesterday. I'm almost certain I'm going to buy it back and fix it. It's just too nice of a car and I've done a crap-load of work/upgrades on it. Would break my heart to imagine it in the local pic-and-pull.
