Well with all this recent mis-shift talk I am begining to worry. About 3000km ago, i was cruising along the highway doin abt 80 km/h in 5th gear. I attempted to downshift into fourth, and somehow engaged 2nd!!!I guess instead of going straight down i freakin held in to the left a little. Well this is my first manual and at the time i was pretty new to it. My question now is how much damage could i have possibly done? Like i mentioned earlier i have driven the car for an additonal 3000km with no problems or even signs of potential problems. The car is running great, but im afraid that down the road i might be looking at major maintenance costs!!I think this may hvae shattered my dream of keeping the car forever.....more importantly should i be getting rid of this asap....I was surprised i didnt blow the motor since ppl have been doing it by going from 5th to 3rd only missing a gear whereas i missed 2! Then again it all depends on the revs and i was revving very high, but in retrospect i missed a lot of fukin gears. This is begining to worry me...please help a brotha out

I say........... Don't worry about it. but make sure you don't make that mistake again. I think I did that twice before my engine totally gave up. You'll know when your car's f*cked or not. The engine light will come up and your car will sound weired and will run sluggish. Just be very careful when shifting. You don't wanna spend $$$$.

Did you press the clutch immediately after the mishift??? Or did you see the revs fly off the chart?? If your car is still running i suspect you maybe just bent/floated some valves....Or it could have been nothing if you depressed the clutch before the revs climbed too high....I think if after 3000km you're still driving, its fine. Just open up the motor(i mean take to a mechanic) at like 70,000km....pay someone to adjust your valves and you should be fine....

if i blew i cylinder would it be noticeable. Like when driving it would i feel the difference?I am guessing it would be totally noticeable but everything seems fine. And about depressing the clutch no i didnt i let it fully engage, cuz i didnt even notice what i had done until i saw the revs fly and heard the wheels chirp
