I have read many posts on squeals coming from under the hood that may be associated with the alterntor. Most if not all are accompanied by electrical issues. I have a constant (at rest and while driving) squeal that I have isolated to either the alternator or pulley bolted to the alternator (used stethoscope to search for sound). Upon replacing the pulley that was bolted to the alternator, i still have the squeal. So now i beleive it to be the alternator yet I have no electrical issues at all. Is there any other way I troubleshoot the alternator squeal?

Inspect the pulleys from the side of the car and make sure they're all square with the belt. The idler pulley might have missed the bracket at the back of the alternator and cause one or both to be a little off.

Also, tensioner pulley is right below and it, and the one on the AC both squeal also.

If belts are over 2 years old, replace them.

Oh, and if you already reused your belts and put them on backwards, that might also cause a squeal.
