My search for a 330i touring continues and recently I found an interesting offer.
For around a price of a stock car in decent condition I could get a supercharged one that has seemingly had a lot of money put into it.
The car is equipped with a G-power supercharger (the kit and install would be half the price of a used E46 330i) and is currently making around 280 horsepower.
While very tempting I try to remain sceptical about the potential downsides as I know well every upgrade is also a downgrade in some ways
The car is supposed to be about 90% daily (given a fun one) and 10% weekend car.
Fuel economy comes to mind first as even the stock 330i would be plenty thirsty for me and european fuel prices but maybe the SC doesn't make much difference when just cruising on low RPM? Heat will be an issue with no intercooler, high intake temps and high compression and combustion pressures. Working on the car will no doubt be more challenging but may be worth the extra power.
That's pretty much all I've got. Don't know a lot about supercharging.
Were it meant to be just my fun car and not a daily maybe I wouldn't think twice.
Any thoughts or experiences?
