323i Touring (Selena)
Hey Guys! Here's my E46 323i Wagon (2000)! She's been in the family since around 2003 with 49,000 miles on the ODO when my parents purchased it for $19,000USD. It has been sitting since 2014, drove probably couple times in 2016. But it's been sitting for quite a bit. (This is an issue when your dad has 7 cars in the driveway). I'm beyond thrilled that it has been passed down to me. I grew up in the back seat. I always loved the E46 chassis, but specifically the touring. Currently has 119,200 miles. Everything is original. There's quite a bit of work that needs to be done. Already dumped 1,500 miles since late August. I will be putting her in storage for winter, living in Upstate New York is brutal on vehicles during Winter. Anyway here is the current projects and future project!
Some Info:
Paint is quite rough, there is a couple dent's on the roof from an outside garage collapsing on it one winter, pretty deep scratches around the rear and front.
Current Repair List:
- Replace Brake Light Switch
- Replace Struts/Springs
- Fluid Flush on Everything
Completed Repairs:
- Change Front Right Corner Light Socket (it got corroded)
Future Plans:
- Double Din Radio

- Bit of bodywork to do, might need a good paint correction and some spots resprayed, including some surface rust to deal with.
- Give the interior a good clean, including leather seats.
- Change Corner Lenses, Side Markers, Rear Tail Lights to Euro Spec
- E46 Sport Steering Wheel, Current looks outdated.
- New set of wheels, current ones are a bit curbed rashed, and I never really them.
- replace front bumper with MTech 1 or 2 Front Bumper.

Headed over to Thompson BMW in Doylestown, PA for the driver side airbag recall. Sourced a square wheel w/ airbag so I can finally stop getting those pesky notices.
I'll be buying a wheel from Coby Wheels wrapped in Alcantara w/ Yellow Strip and Yellow Stitching. (Will match the yellow calipers rather nicely)

Few years ago (2020 if I recall), I went for my airbag recall. They only did my passenger airbag (they told me they couldn't do my driver side airbag because the VIN said it came with the square airbag, and not round
).I asked a good friend of mine a few months ago who worked at BMW at another dealer, and essentially said the same thing.
Could depend on dealer, idk.
I genuinely forgot how terrible the square airbag wheels are (especially the steering wheel controls), its a bit of an odd hand placement just to press them. Doesn't help that I have small hands.
Soon as I got home, I yanked the square wheel out and put a spare sport wheel I had laying around. (I put my M3 wheel in the vert).
Safety is safety, period. I'll double check with my service manager, but I don't think we've ever not completed a recall because the steering wheel didn't match what the VIN said was OE. Snagged a set of Alzor Style 881 (18x8.5 ET35) from ECSTuning (25% off w/ there winter sale).
Essentially BBS LM Replica's. I have always been fond of BBS LM's, however... I just cant justify spending 5k on a set of wheels.
I was browsing marketplace and found a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 (245/35R18) w/ about 150 miles on them [essentially brand new]. Got them for a steal.. 600$!

Test mounted the Alzor Style 881 last night. I'll have to run 5mm spacers in the front, because the spokes hit the Z32 Calipers.
This offset is already aggressive as it is. With the addition of the 5mm spacer, I'll need to run some camber and roll the fenders.
I might just get some fixed camber plates from turner, and it should fix my issue.

Unfortunately, ECS sent one wrong wheel, that is 5x112 and 66.6 Hub.
Have to send that wheel back and wait till they receive it before they send out the correct one.

Im running 18x8.5 ET35 with now a 5mm spacer, and im lowered compared to you.

I've decided that I'll just fix the front end.
I sourced a Orient Blue Hood, and I'll be reusing my old fender from the accident (I think it can be saved).
I'll get the apron pulled, get the fitment corrected.
I'll snag a M-Tech 2 Front Bumper, get it painted and blended w/ fenders and hood and call it a day.
Fits in my budget much more, then my original plans.
Should be around ~3k
