I know that is a silly question.....
I know that it has been already posted (tell me where 'cuz my search didn't worked)
I know that some of you will answer me " get the 325"..

but i've found a "great 323 cab" to buy....
what is the difference between the two engines (one is M52 and the other M54)....where are the 22hp missing????

how to gain them again???

HELP ME DUDES!!!!

I still have a 328 engine to swap, but I personally think that it would be much easier to get them from the 323....... or not??

what year are these 2 cars??? cuz the E46 323i is 170hp and the E46 325i is 184hp so the difference is only 14hp not 22... am i wrong??

not too mention..

a mere 400 beans gets you a Dinan chip worth 8hp and 11 ft-lbs closing the hp gap to only 6 and stretching the torque advantage of the 323 to 17ft lbs more...

i'm currently shopping 323ci's right now and i prefer it to the 325 for the couple grand less it costs and the equal (if not better) performance...

sorry this doesn't answer your question, but maybe it boosts your confidence in the 323 powerplant. not too mention, in a heavier car like a convertible, i'd want more torque (like the 323 offers) to get her going.

The 323 has more torque than the 325. If I had a choice I'd take more torque.

I have a lot of fun smoking people with my measly 170 hp.

The difference is in the intake and exhaust and possibly a little in the ECU tuning at the factory.

The 2.5 from the 323 is an M52TU and the 2.5 from the 325 is an M54.

The M54 uses a drive-by wire throttle vs. the M52TU mechanical throttle.

Yeah get the 323. More Torque

I think BMW just upped the HP on the 325, knowing that it will lose torque, afterall everything has a trade off. Why did they do that? Marketing... typical shoppers only ask about HP. How often does an ad talk about "the most torque in its class"..

So they actually make a car with a higher HP figure on paper. In reality, I would go for the torque... 323.

The 323 is the most under-rated E46. They are often super bargains and they are arguably a better car than the 325.

I think it's the 325 that is under rated, the only thing I see on this forum is 323/328/330 owners b i t c h i n about them:nyah:
