Hey guys, I just created my account today :clap: so don't rag on me yet. Haha.

I purchased a 2004 325i 5 speed with 145,000 miles. It is the smoothest thing I've ever drove! But that's not the point.

In low rmps, it jerks and hesitates very slightly.
It is most notable in 3rd gear around 2,500 to 3,000 rpms.

I just filled it with 93 oct. and put some Lucas Fuel Treatment in my tank, and it seems like it's working at the moment.

I've eliminated the possiblity of the trans. giving out.

I don't know if the fuel system is just clogged or something worse :censor:

Any input would be appreciated!

Some possible problems may involve the MAF, o2 sensor, DME, and coil packs from what i have researched so far.

The way the engine is acting is not terminal, but I'd like to resolve it as soon as possible.

I would try cleaning the MAF first.

If an additive is helping (and yeah, nobody likes those) I would be suspicious of the fuel filter or the air filter.

I'm new to BMWs, and i'm in the process of learning some basic things. I expected to get a shitty accord or something, but I ended up with my 325i <3 Good luck I guess, haha.

yes good luck and welcome to the family, but these cars are not cheap to maintain

I'm sure my heart will break when something goes wrong. I can tell you that high grade fuel is the most inexpensive thing that will go into this car! Haha.

If you can spot that something is wrong, then yes.

At you're mileage a likely culprit are the VANOS seals. Do a search on that as well as beisan systems (I believe that's the correct spelling) for more info. Your problem sounds like it could be that.

I fixed an '01 530i with similiar symptoms, ran the peake tool and it showed up inlet camshaft sensor. so i replaced it and presto now runs like a champ.
