Hi all, I have a 2003 330ci with a navigation system, cd changer and dvd player. I recently purchased a 3-pin aux connection (https://www.fruugo.co.nz/aux-audio-...mY-Cm1e8mKgSa6XhmGaKB4QLLde5YLnxoCrPcQAvD_BwE)

However, when I plug it in, I'm still unable to get to the aux screen using the mode button. I have tried changing the position of the pins, swapping the ground and left connectors but still no luck. Is anyone able to help please.

A 3 pin connector is new to me, but the usual question would be: does your radio support AUX input (2003 in theory should), and whether it's one of those aftermarket cables that requires a resistor to be recognised by the radio - both points have been covered before

I believe that’s what the plastic ball looking thing in the cable is. I have since striped back the protective wrap around the cord and checked the connections, they seem fine. It is a fairly cheap cord though.

Do you know how I would short out the aux connector on the harness to test that the plug actually works?

I think you need the cube style connector to make the correct connection for the radio to sense the aux is attached.

I have no idea what receptacle you would use to connect a three pin connector.
The cube style is for nov nav headunits. Mine has a 16x9 screen, these have 3 pin connectors hidden in the harness for aux installs

Ah, I did not realize that. Sorry. I guess I cannot help you any further. My apologies.

I've got over 7000 mp3s on my phone. It would suck not to be able to listen to that. I hope you get it worked out.
