I have a 2001 325 with the driver's side xenon low beam not working. I swapped the bulbs and confirmed that it isn't the bulb. It's down to the igniter or control unit. However, for my pre-Sept 2001 vehicle, the BMW igniter is $650 and the CU is $600. After market options aren't much better for the pre-9/01 models since BMW must have changed to AL systems after 9/01.
My question is: Can I replace both the igniter and control unit with the post 9/2001 AL components on the driver's side headlight? I can replace both components for less than $500 using aftermarket parts.
