I've had my 2001 325i for about two months now and yesterday the key stopped working to open or close the doors/windows/trunk I have the car's manual and it says that the key's battery is re-charged by the car. Does this mean the battery can still go dead? Is it possible to open the key up and change the bettery? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Put the key in the ignition with the car running. The battery will charge.

To open the key I think you need to actually break the plastic weld. So you'd have to glue it back together if you do.

Definitely keep the key intact!

Just charge it in the ignition like Poon Stick said and that should do it.

You could check your car battery too if it seems like it's the car not the key responding.
