Hi folks.

I've had my 01 Touring for about a month. As I go about the housekeeping of a new owner I find that if I push the tailgate window release under the rear wiper, nothing happens and window does not open. There is no sound at all and I'm thinking there should be a clicking sound.

Anyone have an idea of where to start to fix this? I assume its an electrical release. Is there a relay or a dedicated circuit with a fuse that I can look at? I looked in the Bentley manual and its not much help.

Any help and information is appreciated. Thank you!

The problem is likely the wires in the “elephant trunk” that runs from the body to the tailgate. One or more wires are likely broken.

On ours, the microswitch in the handle itself had
gotten wet repeatedly, and failed.
