I see the boot on one of my axles starts looking frail, so I'd like to change it. I'll do this together with wheel bearings.

Does anyone know if the rear axle carrier from a 320d (OEM part 33316770830)
bolts on a 318i. I know the diesel axle carrier has two extra vibration absorbers ( 33311092256) but i'm hoping that the mounting point distances to the chassis are the same. Has anyone done this? Thanks.
I have not seen a REVIEW on this tool yet, so here is a brief note on what it is and what it does.

New member here! :) I've been searching around these forums for a while, so I thought I might make a post to gain more concise insights from seasoned bimmer enthusiasts.

new to the forum.
so i purchased a 2004 e46 m3 vert smg with 72000 miles a couple months back, rich guy was the only owner, absolutely no accidents or any signs of accidents plus clean carfax. only drove on weekends/ summer.
about a month ago, the drivers side axle blew out (im...
Took my 2004 325xi (80K miles) (first-owner) to trusty mechanic for a thumping noise in the front and to identify leaks under the car (started after I put two O-rings when replacing oil filter :shhh:). I did wait for a full week for the residual oil to finish dripping but finally gave in...
I have a 2003 325xi, and it was leaking oil so I had it looked at by a close indie shop. He took care of it and it was the oil filter housing gasket that is on the engine block. As he was changing it on the lift, he noticed that my boots on my front axles are ripped and said I should get them...
I have play in my Control Arm Bushings and the steering wheel has slight vibration at high speeds. Could this be causing the slight vibration. Just changed front rotors, both control arms and drive axle.
I have a vibration/hum that is always present, but when I hit 40mph the harmonic is so loud that it's almost a deafening roar! It's low enough in frequency to be impossible to locate from inside the car. So I can't tell if it's coming from the front, middle, or back, and the kicker is that it's...
Does it matter which direction rear wheel bearings go in?
I figured there was not due to the wheels need to rotate in both direction but just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for you expert advice. :)
Hello need help please. Changing out rear bearings on 2000 BMW 323i Sedan.
Had a few questions:
First does it matter what direction the rear wheel bearing goes in?

I brought the axle brand new about 3 months ago to put in my car but the girlfriend took the car out literally the night before I was gonna put it in and totaled my BMW. She was ok but the car was not. It had to get totaled. I guess I was lucky enough that I didn't put them in before the...
i just got this car and there is a sound coming from the wheel and it makes a sounds each time it makes a turn like it get faster and faster but after i hit 60MPH it disappears and it is usually from 35MPH to 60MPH. i thought it would be the wheel hub and i replaced that but that hadn't make a...
I'm at a loss to the point that I finally signed up for the forum. Sorry for this, since I know its been discussed to death, but I am not coming up with specific symptom and a solution to what I have.
Car is a 2005 325xi auto w/ 127k miles.
So, have a vibration under accelration, especially...
So as luck would have it, while putting on my winter tires this evening I did my usual inspection of bushings, CV boots, etc... and of course both my outer CV boots on both the left/right were torn and grease splattered everywhere
The car is a 2003 325xi with only...
Just received my order of GKN Loebro left and right front cv axles. The right axle is buttery smooth when you manipulate the joints by hand. The left is really stiff, hard to move and in my opinion binding.
Is this normal for new axles or should they all be buttery smooth. Help!
I have a 02 330xi at 95k miles. I had replaced all the inner and outer CV boots for the front axles about two years ago at around 80k miles, with loebro kit from Pelican parts. Either early this year or later last year I have noticed one outer CV boot had torn again.
I am going to lower my car...
