so the old intake manifold is removed now.. and everything is going ok...

I would need to change the m52tu, 3 pin alternator for the newer 2 pin version found on the m54.. plus its electric cable..

We also removed the old wiring harness and the old dme, and also trying to remove the old auto tranny wiring that I won't need any more lol

intake manifold removed

old intake manifold

alternator.. notice the 3 pins ( the m54 engine wire harness has only 2 pins)

engine harness, some intake tubes and the old throttle body

Why are you even doing this? 328 to 330 is not much of a difference in power.

You must have a lot of extra money or love doing this kind of stuff.

there might not be soo much gain by the displacement.. but the major gains are in the intake manifold, cams... In order for the manifold to work like oem I decided to install the drive by wire throttle.. and some other goodies of the m54 technology

with the money I'm spending I could had bought a supercharger stg 1
but I love doing projects with my car..
FI + 3.0 liter would be even better

p.s. I believe there could be some extra 40hp from this conversion.. (i'm doing cams also)

finally out:

uuc flywheel & m5 clutch

technik headers (gen3)
sidenote: from experience.. they provide more low end torque than my old ebay headers...

taking of the wiring

mine was: 1550 for the 6sp, 300 oem clutch, 125 oem flywheel, 459 evo3 +dssr, 500 driveshaft, 150 misc stuff (bracket, mounts...), i also ordered a cdv, and lsd to finish it off

because the lsd kinda fell into my lap, i put the 3.0 down one spot on my list, so i need to finish ordering the last of my stuff for it before i start...

chuzo, any new news??

well for a quick update.. the engine was opened..
Head: sent to a shop for cleaning & installation of new valve seals
Block: opened, cleaned and ready for the placement of the new crankshaft, pistons and rods..

m54 fuel lines = completed
upgraded vanos seals= completed (beisan systems) I bought them for preventive maintenance
gas pedal module = completed

So the main problem that appeared and I currently have is that main relay box is different (328 compared to the 330) There are some plugs of the new engine harness that wouldn't not fit on the oem body harness..
