If you are concerned with looks, forget about wheels and move out of Lakewood.

OE 17's with race isn't going to cause rubbing ^.

To the OP; I think they'd look fine, too.

Not at all. In fact, I have 12.5mm spacers in front and 15mm spacers in back...

I drive an E36 with 17s and H&R Sports and Koni adjustable shocks and struts. It looks fine and works better.

If you have a 225/45x17 or a 225/40x18, the overall look will be the same, more or less. There are plenty of wheels in a 7.5 or 8 x either 17 or 18 that will fit what you are about to do. You want to be sure the ET is in a range of about 35 to 41. If the ET is too low, the tires will be close to the fender openings, if the ET is too high, then the tires will be close to the undercarriage.

You can search eBay for BMW E46 OEM 17 INCH WHEELS, and replace 17 with 18, and remove OEM if you want to see aftermarket products.

Or, you can look here (it's in german, but you should be able to figure it out)...

No it's not. It's technically wrong. Wheels are wheels. Nothing else.
