N46B20 Fuel injector cut off.

Hi!

I've got an -04 E46 touring, with the N46B20 engine.
It cranks but wont start, I bought it like this, cheap.

anyway, I've checked the timing on the chain- OK!
I've checked the sparks - OK!

but the fuel injectors wont open/give pulse.

Every injector shows 12.5ohm.
On the + side i've got 12v
on the - side i've got 3v
between the two i've got around 8v

The car starts if i spray it with starter gas.

Is there anything that will cause injection cutoff like this?
besides crank and cam sensors?

I just ordered a K+Dscan cable for Inpa.
so i havnt checked the faultcodes yet..

kind regards!

The first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak) for codes.

N46B20 Fuel injector cut off.

It sounds like the EWS isnít allowing the DME to send a ground to each of the injectors. The injectors have 12VDC as long as the ignition is in the run or start positions. The DME provides the ground to fire the injector. This same set up is used for the coils. My suspicion is the key isnít aligned with the EWS. Search this forum to find the key alignment procedure.
