515,000 miles 2000 323ci. going for a million plus. a lot of rust work I live near Phili Pa. I recommend to all to replace your transmission mounts every 300K. I am convinced I would still be on the factory drive train if I had replaced them. When they are shot your entire drive train is misaligned meaning you will wear out everything from the transmission to the rear diff. 300K is probably a high number for those mounts but I try to squeeze as much life out of everything as I can because there are sooooooooo many parts in cars you need to get every mile you can out of them because you go broke on buying parts alone even when you do your own labor. Oh, I also recommend manual trans only if you are looking to save money for the long haul. I got half a million miles on my original clutch and trans. 70% highway driving southeastern pa. We have plenty of hills but its not San Francisco -

394,000 miles on my 2000 323i; replaced the lower block at 330,000 miles because of a spun bearing other than that routine maintenance. Transmission, Differential, Brake and Coolants get changed every 60k or 2 years whichever comes first. She goes to the track at Summit Point and Autocross year round. Amazingly solid vehicles if well maintianed.

Nice to hear you're still on the road...and of the half million miles just above you too! I'm just a baby at 292,000 miles!

Looks like there are some heavy hitters on here now. Damn.

I'm creeping ever closer to 300K, 700miles away from that milestone.
I'd be there already, but my new job is now only 10mi away vs 40.

WOW!

So there is indeed a possibility that these cars can reach those numbers and still run so long as they're well maintained? 300,000 Miles - that is NOT a small number.

kburger,

BMW might be interested in your half-million mile E46. I know that Volvo nut with the 1800 (lovely little car) got a new car from Volvo when he hit one or two million miles. He's over three million now. Not saying you'll get a new car but BMW might want to use your car in an ad...

There was another guy with an ultra high mileage Saab that got a free car from them as well.

I think BMW hit a production sweet spot with the E46.
