I noticed on the preorder website a list of Android phones this works with. Will it work with iPhones as well?

I found this post in the 'main BlueBus thread' over on the M3forum site:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showp...&postcount=543

Hopefully, it answers your question. This was from ~10/29/19 so there may be more devices currently compatible. BlueBus Ted (with all the respect in the world, really!) may need to correct/update my response.

Yep, without the TCU side of things, install is extremely simple

Excellent. I've got an iPhone 8...it will work with this.

Im a bit of a knucklehead when it comes to some of this "modern" tech. So... what Im reading is correct. Will the CD portion of my Business head unit still be able to play CD's ?? OR in simple terms which I only am able to understand... will I still be able to insert a CD into my factory head unit and have it play the CD ?? thanks

Hello!

Yes, your head units single disc player will remain available

The BlueBus simply displaces the 6 CD Changer that would've mounted in the trunk.

Thanks!

Darn, I missed the pre-order in the Christmas commotion.

I did send in my info as "Interested".

Thanks again for doing this!

If so, then you probably already have the necessary connectors in your trunk on the left hand side behind the trunk panel liner. The BlueBus gets mounted in the trunk behind the left hand panel. The video is not mine, it is something I copied from the M3forum site.

You may want to start reading ~page 55, ~post 542 of this thread. Or if you have time, scan the whole thread for a real feel for the genesis of this unit:
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...599340&page=55
Ted brought the BlueBus to fruition all on his own, both hardware and software. It really is quite an achievement, IMHO.

You may also want to send Ted a PM, at t3ddftw. He'll probably answer you back quite promptly if it is like what happened to me. Be sure to watch his video in the original post #1, of this thread, up above.
I did get a chance to read through from page 55 to the end.

Now I am hoping I can get one of the "extra/unsold" 20-odd units he may have left over.

I would also be interested in the build your own cable to connect to the 54-pin TCU connector.

It looks like I need to take a look in my trunk and see if I have the shelf referred to in this thread.

I saw mention of a "338 Mic" if I want to use the BB telephony. Is that this mic: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...sm-84316938762

Is it 55 pages?! Jeez! I keep my forums in 50 message per page mode, so it's only up to 14 for me

I actually have one of those units left, but it is "spoken for" for now, he just hasn't paid yet.

I sold 484 of the units, and the other 15 have to go out to existing users with prototype boards, as those will not be compatible with the firmware on the production boards (due to my usage of a much larger EEPROM).

I'm not sure I'll even offer the "build yourself" cable, as without the proper crimps, it's damn near impossible to do it on your own. I'm looking into buying the $5,000 machine to crimp these terminals onto cables quickly, so I can make hundreds in a matter of days.

The microphone you want isn't sold by FCP, it seems -- https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/84318380338/

Thanks!

Thanks Ted!

I am ready to pay now, so if you have a unit looking for a home, sign me up! I will take the 54 pin TCU wire harness however you want to provide. I can/will de-pin mine, but if I don't have to, the is preferable in my mind.

I just went to the m3 forum and read through in their default view - 70 pages. I am not a member over there.

Thank you for the microphone link!

Let me know if I can send you $...

The crazy thing about that latest update is it shows how much $ Ted is shelling out ahead of time to bring these to us - Thanks Ted!!!

You're welcome. I am not a member of the m3forum.net either, but just keep an eye on the main BlueBus thread because I ordered one.

To be fair, I used the money I made from sales to pay for the order . But, I'm definitely not raking in dough over here

The plan was to have the BlueBus done before the boys got here -- so much for that

I just posted another update on M3F: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showp...&postcount=715
