All the new Bluetooth standards that are being implemented are causing some headaches, while the newer BT should be backwards compatible, does not always seem to be the case with some chipsets.
I didn't know the veepeak was that cheap. Either way, what I got isn't too bad if you just have money laying around on your account or something like that

Jfoj I have one quick question. I got a P0171 and P0174 the other day and ran a diagnostic report just like the pdf said. There is only one thing I am confused about. When I'm looking at the diagnostic report csv, the freeze frame data isn't there. Is that right? Do I screenshot the freeze frame data?

CVS Logs only have Live Data, not Freeze Frame info.

You need to run a Diagnostic Report and SAVE the Report, then you can forward the report to yourself and/or the email address in the procedure.

The key thing is Report button is not on the display on a phone while it is in Portrait mode, you need to swipe the screen from Right to Left to find Report in the top Right corner or just turn the device from Portrait to Landscape mode and then you will see Report in the upper Right corner.

I suggest you run the Diagnostic Report WITH the engine at warm idle as it gives me some more data to look at. Ignore any pop up warning regarding running the report with the engine idling. Before you run the Diagnostic Report go into Settings, Units, Airflow and change the default from lbs/min to g/s.

The Diagnostic Report may take 30 seconds or more to run. Once it is complete you need to SAVE the Report buy touching the floppy disk icon. Then you can use the Share icon to forward it to yourself and anyone else.

Yup. I know all that and I've already done it. I guess I'll start a new thread

instead of starting a new thread - has anything changed at this point?
I'm looking into getting a bluetooth obd dongle and software for an iphone.
Is any dongle from amazon ok along with OBDfusion?
This is for an e46 m3. I have problems reading some of the systems with INPA and was told that I need an M3 specific cable/ box.
I remember reading good reviews on the Veepeak scanner.

The OBD Fusion is a great tool to have but will do a fraction of what INPA and PA Soft 1.4 can do. I have all 3. If you are able to read the DME and EGS with your INPA install but not the other modules, you may not have pins 7 and 8 bridged on your INPA K+D CAN cable. To my knowledge, there is not a different cable for the M3 model.
