Air bag deployed because of a bad axle

So my axle went bad , the cv joint on the diff side took a crap while i was on the highway . The axle is still attached to the diff via boot most likely but the fact that it was making so much vibration and banging that my air bag on the steering wheel deployed and also battery isolator got deployed while i was on the highway where there is no shoulders and heavy traffic ( NYC ) . So i couldnt get the car to start and I looked all over and found that my battery cable did expload( BMW safety feature) but now is the question how do I replace that piece , i have a spare one , but it seems like the whole cable has to be replaced that runs to the front of the car .
Lucky me i was sitting far enough for airbag not to touch my face , but I think it didnt deply properly it shot out the airbag with 1 charge and then another charge went off minutes later which didnt do nothing but scared the hell outta me and smoked up the car.
