Salary to own an Aston Martin?

I was thinking about this recently. How much (at least) should you be making to own an Aston DBS () and still live comfortably (nice house apartment, good food etc, not crazy but on a similar level of classiness)?

A DBS is around $300,000.

Also, why is a DBS $100,000 more than a V12 Vantage? the Vantage is the same engine and a bit quicker if I recall. Is the only difference luxury? I absolutely love the look of the DBS's stylings tho.

Depends where you live. Considering a 2-bedroom in my hood is $1,000,000 give or take 100k. It also depends if you have kids or are in a dual income household.

Lon story short... if you have to ask you can't afford it.

to own a 300k car you'd need about a milli in liquid to still live comfortably (IMO)

OP lives in NY.... if that mean NYC, than you probably should be making 7 figures to buy a DBS. Insurance and parking in NYC is a pain.

I live in New York. I obviously can't afford it now bc I am still in school, but I have pretty big plans in the future, so I was just curious.

What the hell is a house apartment? And why are you buying a DBS living in a house apartment.

The easiest way to figure this out is to figure out the payment.

A rough rule of thumb would be to estimate $100 a month per $10k of car value to lease. So, for a $300k car, that would be a $3k per month car payment.

I could swing that right now. Would it be prudent? Absolutely not.

Insurance has got to be extremely high, though.

I don't think many Aston owners are salaried employees.

Depending on your other living expenses it could be probably done with as little as 100K. I would really wait until I could come up with half the price in cash (that's how I judged my previous bigger purchases like the house).

A daily driver is one thing but a 300k sports car is a pure luxury item. In my opinion, all toys should be bought in cash. You better have everything else in your life pretty put together to justify a 300k car. Id say a couple million liquid to even consider it.

So you're saying they are hourly Like T-Bell hourly?

Think you are confusing terms, guys pulling in big numbers have their yearly "salary" plus bonuses and what not.

lol not to be a buzzkill but we all did and 99% of us are doing well but no where near what we thought. My best advice is to just value what you have and remember what is important. Your health, friends, family, and free time. Have fun. Don't let bullsh1t material items make you do things a certain way. I'm pretty sure I enjoy my life more than most rich guys working 65+ hours a week.
