My Ride: Alfa Romeos!
i am poor =[

EDIT: most recent progress shown on the last page!

a lil about myself: i love cars! unfortunately, i am poor so i cant afford a bimmer or anything sick like you guys it's all good though cause my dad gave me his old alfa romeo race car to play with so here's my progress thread !

-1975 alfa romeo alfetta gt
-5 speed manual
-beautiful steel/epoxy interior
-no power options, just straight motor
-jon norman pumped out race engine

a lil about the car: raced from '85 to '88, scca sf region itb champ car for 3 years, everything logged. the car was prepared by mcgee motorsports up at sears point(infinion). pretty much retired after the '88 season and just sat outside under a tarp for 22 years

you have a vintage alfa romeo and you're complaining about not being able to own a e46? a alfetta gt in good condition is worth more than 80% of the cars on this forum...

save up and restore it bit by bit... it's an awesome way of getting to know what cars are all about, and it's worth the investment if you ever decide to sell it.

The only thing that worries me is that you mentioned "fixing" the rust holes with bondo... theres only one way to "fix" rust, and thats by cutting and welding properly...

edit: just saw the pics, looks like you know what you're doing... this car is worth restoring!

@330performance: yeah that is true but i've been around alfa romeos all my life and i'm almost tired of dealing with them haha. i know bondo is the halfassed way of dealing with rust but theres only 2 spots on the car where there was rust damage, the main one being on the rear bumper where there is just a massive hole.

i'm going back today to the warehouse to work on the car and i'll take some pics. it's been a while since i actually took pictures of the progress that has been made. thanks all!

@peterbg16: ones also an alfetta race car that ran gt3 and is also a champ car! i have some pics on my phone that i'll upload in a bit. anyways its a pumped out 4 cyl that puts out ~350 at the wheels. but like most of the cars in my dads garage, they'll just sit there and eventually be taken apart for parts also, its pretty much what i want to do with my car! my dad wont let me touch it cause he says its way too much for me but i understand haha

@jayare: i know what i got it's a great car but i feel like its too much more me. much rather have a '69 2002 or even a 1600!

water temp, rpms, oil pressure and fuel level is all you need!

Really sick car if you restore it! I never knew these push 350 from a 4 banger, how is that possible?

My Ride: Alfa Romeos!
update!!! came back from the warehouse just now. cleaned and prepped the interior for priming tomorrow. hopefully the interior will be painted and finished by friday. i also added some other random pics of the car as of now. *forgot i turned off autofocus on my camera -.- so sorry about the blurry pics

ALSO: quick question:: do you guys think i should swap out my current gearbox with acolotti gear box? for those of you who dont know what it is, its a straight cut super close ratio gearbox, costs like twice as much as the car anyways, its MUCH louder and annoying than the stock one, not sure if i want to mixed that with the straight pipes i may be running (depending on track) feedback would be nice thanks!

***before****

plugged the rust hole with bondo :/ it didnt come out that bad (hard to tell) but i need to smooth it out later when i have time

removed the massive heater unit under the dash. took a few hours but finally got it out. i will eventually put the ingition/fuel pump/cold start switches.

*facepalm* blurry picture of the inside, ready to be wirebrushed then primed

a colorful array of wires and hoses (will be switched out soon dont worry!) engine bay with removed windshield wiper system

will be at the warehouse tomorrow for most of the day, will update thread soon!

thanks guys, please leave some feedback!!!

That's a wicked project, I'd love to get my hands on an old Alfa, but they're so rare around where I live.
The patina on the paint looks fantastic to me, I wouldn't bother with a respray personally.
