Front CV/axle rehab: Loctite 270 really necessary on splines?

Bentley says to use Loctite 270 on the outer CV/axle splines. I got the 270 but then realized I need the Loctite primer stuff as well, mumble, curse, b(itch)...

Is this necessary?

Doesn't make sense to me, especially since most have trouble removing the axle from the hub when it's time to change it.

I found the product info and the purpose of the primer/activator is to speed curing time and/or where large gaps are present. There is a very small amount of spline slop in my axles, it doesn't seem to be from wear, so my guess the 270 is to eliminate that slop once it cures.

I just did an axle yesterday, I had to beat the $h!t out of the hub to get the axle far enough to start the nut. Clean lubed splines too.
